Lucas Granholm
(He/Him/His)
Thank you for your interest in my work! Let me share a bit about myself. I was born and raised in Minneapolis, Minnesota, where I grew up attending a wide variety of artistic performances. I had the privilege of attending the Perpich Center for Arts Education, followed by the University of Minnesota Morris, where I earned my Bachelor's degree in Theatre Arts. Later, I pursued a Master of Fine Arts in Theatre Design and Technology, with an emphasis on Lighting Design, from the University of South Dakota. I’ve worked on lighting for everything from large-scale musicals to small, intimate wedding receptions, giving me a keen eye for lighting in any type of performance.

Currently, I am an Associate Professor of Theatre Arts at the University of Minnesota Morris. In this role, I serve as a design faculty member for both a 350-seat proscenium theatre and a small, intimate black box theatre. Before teaching, I worked as a freelance lighting designer and master electrician across the country.

On the rare occasion that I’m not at the top of a ladder focusing lights or behind a lighting console, you’ll likely find me enjoying the outdoors, playing the banjo, or exploring a local thrift store.
